AnglicareSA’s Better Places Stronger Communities (BPSC) and Renewing our Streets and Suburbs (ROSAS) community development teams are passionate about changing the stigma surrounding social housing neighbourhoods by creating environments that promote positive interactions between tenants, their families and friends.

We have been busy upgrading the common area of one of our community housing complexes in Adelaide’s north. The upgrades include a new lawn, covered bench area and raised garden beds.

Meanwhile, to keep everyone connected during COVID-19 restrictions, our BPSC team in Adelaide’s north and ROSAS team in the west provided quilting packs to interested tenants and community members.

After months in the making, the two finished projects were presented to tenants in November and will be put on display at our tenancy offices for all to see.

Tenants reported that the project improved their morale and helped remind them that everyone was conquering the challenge of COVID-19 together.

Listening and working alongside our tenants to better understand how we can create stronger and more vibrant communities is at the heart of what we do.

As part of the quilting project, we asked tenants to tell us how they felt during the height of the pandemic.

“Showed us how precious life really is, to be grateful for what we have.” – Debbie, AnglicareSA Housing tenant

“The COVID-19 virus made me value my freedom, family, friends and I want to live life to the fullest and grasp every opportunity now as our future has forever changed.” – Tracey, AnglicareSA Housing tenant.
